Design

All of our notebooks start with a simple question: what would kids like best? Then we put Odd Goose pencil to paper and start scribbling out ideas.

How it's Made

Notepads

➼ Designed by hand, we always like to include little custom drawn elements like hand lettering or smileys!

➼ We print the pages in batches then cut them down before collating them

➼ Each pad comes with a sturdy (nearly 1000gsm!) backing board that we foil print onto (of course)

➼ Pads are glued in small stacks using water-based padding adhesive.

➼ Finally, they are carefully separated with a scalpel and finished with a paper wrap!

How it's Made

Greeting Cards

➼ Our Colour-Your-Own greeting cards all feature custom hand drawn lettering, specially designed as outlines to be fun for colouring in.

➼ Drawn by hand at first, we create each lettering piece as a digital design. This is then made as a copper plate (with the design inverted!)

➼ The plates are printed on our traditional foiling press and the design is debossed into the card using metallic foils.

➼ Finally, each card is scored by hand, ready for your artwork!

How it's Made

Foil Printed Pencils

➼ Each design is carefully drawn so that it will work at a teeny tiny size (there's barely 3mm in height on the side of a pencil!).

➼ We get each design made as a copper plate, ready for mounting to the foiling press.

➼ Each blank pencil goes in a special pencil jig fitted inside the press and is carefully registered to match up with the plate.

➼ One by one, each pencil goes in the press with just the right amount of pressure and dwell time.

➼ If it's a design with 2 colours, we do it all over again for the second colour!

Erasers

➼ Each eraser wrap starts its life as a pencil drawing, whether that's an illustration or custom lettering.

➼ We design the shape of the wrap to suit the artwork and we die cut these ourselves using a range of colourful papers.

➼ Each eraser is printed from a copper plate - with a second print run for the back of the wrap!

➼ Finally, we fold and glue the wrap over each blank eraser.
